Another book cover

One of the earliest posts on this blog was about a very odd elementary school textbook cover, Free Rein!, which I was somewhat snarky about. Now I have another one.

This paperback book was from an unknown year (I forgot to scan the copyright page!) but clearly shows its age:

Selected Writings of John Stuart Mill. Edited, with an introduction, by Maurice Cowling.

I have no idea what they were going for with the rainbow effect to his hair and face. This was in the 60s or 70s, so I don’t think it had anything to do with gay rights. Although, since it is a book of philosophy, you never know…

Personally I feel like they were desperate for a “timely” looking cover art and this is the best they could come up with.

A hopefully entertaining blogger, frequently of technical things, but some artistic commentary too.
